Setting up space occupancy policies

You can set up the space occupancy policy to use, or not use, the person's primary organization for occupancy allocations. You can also set this option at the global level and at the building level.

About this task

Note: In the Dynamic Space Planning (DSP) application, if the occupancy policy is set without the person's primary organization, then all associated people records are displayed or listed in the occupancy allocations. But if the occupancy policy is set to the person's primary organization, then only associated people records with a primary organization are displayed or listed in the occupancy allocations.

Procedure

  1. To change the space occupancy settings at the global level:
    1. Go to Tools > System Setup > General > Application Settings.
    2. Select the Space Management Settings tab.
    3. In the Space Occupancy Settings section, select or clear the Use People's Primary Organization for Occupancy Allocations? option.
    4. Save the settings.
  2. To change the space occupancy settings at the building level:
    1. Open a building record. If its status is Active, select the Revise action.
    2. Select the Space Management tab.
    3. If the building-level policy differs from the global-level policy above, then select the Use Building Level Occupancy Policies? option.
    4. In the Space Occupancy Settings section, select or clear the Use People's Primary Organization for Occupancy Allocations? option (whichever is opposite the global level).
    5. Save or activate the record.
  3. To confirm the space occupancy status at the space level:
    1. Open a space record.
    2. Select the Allocation tab.
    3. In the Occupancy Details section, confirm the Occupancy Status. For example, Occupied.
