Working with multi-file models

About this task

Some modeling tools, such as Autodesk Revit, have a workflow that distributes a model across many files that are then linked to form the complete model. For example, a model may be divided into an architectural, an MEP, and a structure component each in different Revit files. Autodesk Platform Services can integrate these parts into a single model for display in the Autodesk Platform Services Viewer.

Procedure

  1. Gather the files composing the model into a directory tree that can easily be converted into a compressed file. Ideally, you should remove extraneous files such as auto-save files.
  2. Select the file that will be the master file for the linked model. Ensure that all linked parts or submodel files load correctly when this file is opened.
  3. Convert the directory containing the model files into a compressed file.
  4. Upload the compressed file as described above.
