Using FARF6 for selected files or subfiles
If only specific files or subfiles are growing rapidly, or if you want to stage the migration, you can convert selected files or subfiles to be compatible with FARF6 or place them in FARF6 pools. The remaining files or subfiles can continue to use FARF 3/4/5 4‑byte file addresses. You can then convert the remaining files and subfiles over time.
This migration approach also minimizes database lockout while the migration is in progress.
