Product overview

IBM Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager enables service providers and enterprises to manage network performance of both fixed or IP (Wireline) and mobile (Wireless) networks. Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager provides comprehensive, flexible, and scalable Performance Management with visualization and reporting of network performance data for complex, multivendor, multi-technology networks.

Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager 1.4.5 release has new features and enhancements that are introduced in Wireline component, which has option to choose between Oracle or IBM DB2® for database support.

Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager - Wireline Component has an extra Hadoop - based Big Data Extension Component. No updates are done to the Big Data Extension component in 1.4.5 and the version remains at 1.4.3.

No updates are done to the other Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager components in 1.4.5 and the version remains at 1.4.4.

Procedure

  1. Access the software and documentation
    Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager 1.4.5 consists the following components:
    • Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager - Wireline Core Component
    • Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager Big Data Extension for Wireline Component
    • Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager - Wireless Component
    • Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager - Application Studio tool for enhanced Cognos® models for Wireless Component
    • Operations and Engineering Dashboards for visualization of performance data from both components.
    • Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Technology Packs and Common Packs for both Wireline and Wireless Components
    It requires the following supported software:
    • Jazz® for Service Management, V1.1.3.0 Fix pack 3 (1.1.3-TIV-JazzSM-multi-FP003).
    • Tivoli Common Reporting and Dashboard Application Services Hub, V3.1.3.0.

    Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager can be installed by downloading it from the IBM Passport Advantage® website from here:

  2. Evaluate the hardware and system configuration
    Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager for Wireline component is supported on the following platforms:
    • Oracle Solaris 11 Update 3 (SPARC).
    • IBM AIX® 7.1 Power® 8, 7100-05 with Service Pack 1 (7100-05-01).
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.6 (x86_64), for both fresh installation and upgrade scenarios.
    Database support for Wireline component:
    • Oracle Database 18c Enterprise Edition Release 18.0.0.0.0.
    • IBM Db2 Advanced Workgroup Server Edition 11.1.2.2, Linux 64-bit.
