Example: Using FileZilla to Upload ZIP Files Via FTP

This topic provides an example of how to use FileZilla on Microsoft Windows to upload your ZIP files using sFTP.

About this task

Note: You can use any FTP client to upload your ZIP files.

To do this task, you need the following from the Welcome email, and you also need to know that you upload only to the Upload folder on the IBM sFTP server:
  • IBM sFTP server information
  • Username and password for FTP
  • Client ID (client name)


  1. Install FileZilla: https://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Client_Installation.
  2. Open FileZilla and select File > Site Manager.

  3. In the Site Manager window, select New Site to create a new site.

  4. In the General tab, enter the following configurations (as provided in your Welcome email).

    1. In the Host field, enter the <ftp server host name>.
    2. In the Port field, enter <port>.
    3. In the Protocol field, select SFTP – SSH File Transfer Protocol.
    4. In the Logon Type field, select Ask for Password.
    5. In the User field, enter your <ftp user name>.
    6. In the Password field, enter your <ftp password>.
    7. Select Connect to connect to the IBM sFTP server. With the connection established, use your <client ID> to help you find your designated folder. The following folders are available: Error, Processed, Processing, Scores, and Upload:
      sFTP folder structure.
  5. Drag and drop the files on your local machine to the Upload folder on the IBM sFTP server.

    Note: The system pulls ZIP files from the Upload folder every 20 minutes.
