Adding a z/OS source environment with a data retrieval method of extract

You can create components from an existing z/OS instance by creating a source environment with a data retrieval method of extract. When you create components against this type of source environment the tooling will use the z/OS Extraction Utilities to extract the selected volume or data set artifacts to a memory buffer on the source environment and transfer that data to the storage server.

To create a new IBM Z® mainframe source environment, complete the following steps:
  1. Click Source environments on the home page, or click the upper-right settings button to navigate to Source environments.
  2. Click Add source environment.
  3. Select the Extract data retrieval method.
  4. Specify a unique source environment name that can be identified when you create components or images.
  5. Enter the specified hostname and SSH port of the z/OS source environment from which the data is being extracted.
  6. Specify the installation directory of the z/OS Extraction Utilities. The default path is /usr/lpp/IBM/zos-extract/.
  7. (Optional) If you want to store the authentication information (credentials or a certificate) in the source environment to avoid prompting it while creating or editing components from that source environment, click Provide authentication details for any extraction and specify the credentials or a certificate for that source environment.
  8. Click Add source environment.
