Generating test data

Before you begin

  1. Create a test case for a test target program.
  2. Record test data for the created test case.

Procedure

  1. Select Start Test Data Generation from the context menu of a 'base recorded test entry', as guided in Automatic test data generation. As a result, a path information entry prefixed with PathInfo (ex.PathInfo0) will be created as a special entry just to be used to these steps.

  2. Add or change input values in the path information entry, as guided in Automatic test data generation.
  3. Select Generate Automatic Test from the context menu of the path information entry to start a 'Automatic Test Generation' job in the background. You need to select a path information entry to select Generate Automatic Test. You should not close and reopen the test entry editor while you are editing a path information entry. If you do, your path information entry is treated as a regular test entry not a path information entry.

  4. If you want, you may cancel the job any time in the Progress view.

When the Automatic Test Generation job succeeds, a test entry prefixed with ATG (ex. ATG1) is created. The path information entry is deleted automatically after the ATG entry is created successfully.
