Configuring the Western Telematic Inc. switch for the TS7650G (Gateway), ProtecTIER V3.4.3
This topic describes the procedure for manually configuring the Western Telematic Inc. (WTI) switch.
About this task
Procedure
- Log on to the lower ProtecTIER® server.
- Create an IP alias by typing in the following command:
ifconfig eth1:1 192.168.168.170 - From the ProtecTIER server
command prompt, telnet to the WTI switch.
telnet 192.168.168.168 Enter the Password : password - At the IPS prompt, type /H to list the configuration commands.
- Type /G to set the General Parameters menu.
- Change the system
password.
- Type 1.
- Type the new password.
- Type the new password again to confirm.
- Press the ESC key to exit the General Parameters menu.
- Change the plug
parameters for Node A power plug.
- Display the plug numbers and names by typing /S at the IPS prompt.
- Type /P 1 to change the parameters for plug 1.
- Type 1 to select the name.
- Type the plug name internal_node1.
- Type 3 to select the Seq/Delay parameter.
- Type 4 to set the delay to 5 seconds.
- Press ESC to exit the Plug #1 parameters.
- Type /P 5 to change the parameters for plug 5.
- Type 1 to select the name.
- Type the plug name internal_node1.
- Type 3 to select the Seq/Delay parameter.
- Type 4 to set the delay to 5 seconds.
- Press the ESC key to exit the Plug #5 parameters.
- Change
the plug parameters for Node B power plug.
- Display the plug numbers and names by typing /S at the IPS prompt.
- Type /P 2 to change the parameters for plug 2.
- Type 1 to select the name.
- Type the plug name internal_node2.
- Type 3 to select the Seq/Delay parameter.
- Type 4 to set the delay to 5 seconds.
- Press ESC to exit the Plug #2 parameters.
- Type /P 6 to change the parameters for plug 6.
- Type 1 to select the name.
- Type the plug name internal_node2.
- Type 3 to select the Seq/Delay parameter.
- Type 4 to set the delay to 5 seconds.
- Press the ESC key to exit the Plug #6 parameters.
- Verify
that the plug parameters are set correctly.
- Type /S at the IPS prompt. The plug parameters are displayed (Figure 1).Figure 1. Plug parameters

- Type /S at the IPS prompt. The plug parameters are displayed (Figure 1).
- Change the network parameters.
- Type /N at the IPS prompt. The Network Parameters menu is displayed.
- Type 2 to change the subnet mask.
- Type 255.255.255.0.
- Type 1 to change the IP address.
- Type 10.0.0.50. The IP address and subnet mask settings are displayed.
- Verify that the IP address and subnet mask settings are correct.
- Press the ESC key to exit the Network Parameters menu.
- Type /E to save the parameters.
- When prompted, type Y to confirm the change.
- Exit the WTI by typing /X.
- When prompted, type Y to confirm.
