About this task
Important: This procedure enables you
to update IMM,
UEFI, FPGA
and DSA firmware via the IMM web interface.
It should only be used in an emergency, when firmware cannot
be loaded normally for inband flashing by the operating system. Normally,
firmware updates are performed during the autorun phase of ProtecTIER® code load
or by selecting the Update Firmware menu option.
Note: The
IMM, UEFI, FPGA
and DSA firmware files can be downloaded from the IBM website.

Fix Central.
- Click the IBM Sign
in link in
the masthead and log in using your IBM user ID. If you do not have
an IBM user ID, follow the procedures to create one from any IBM web
page.

the Product Group menu.
- Select System
x from the Select
from Systems menu.

or 7145 (DD4) from the Select from
System x3850 X5 menu.

your specific
operating system) from the Operating system menu.
- Click Continue to display the
matrix of downloadable firmware files.
- Scroll to the IMM area
or other firmware area, select the link for the firmware update, and
save the update file to your laptop or to the TSSC.

the system during this operation, doing so might corrupt your system
or risk data integrity.
