Usage notes
This lists the usage notes for the EXPLORE command.
- The data extracted using the EXT-FLAT/EXT-FLATFILE keywords
will contain those additional records related to the records matching
your criteria when ICF-LIST/ICF-LISTFILE keywords are used.
If you require only extracted records matching your filter, do not use the ICF-LIST/ICF-LISTFILE keywords. Either specify no other output targets or specify DSN-LIST/DSN-LISTFILE keywords or COLUMN-LIST/COLUMN-LISTFILE keywords.
- EXTRACT files contain EXPLORE records consisting of a
base segment and a single volume cell. If the data set has more
than one allocated volume, multiple base and single volume cell
records will be written. EXPLORE does not write the following into the EXTRACT file:
- catalog alias records
- candidate volumes
- records with no volumes such as data set aliases
- When using ICFLIST or ICFLISTFILE output for GDG data sets where an individual GDS has one or more aliases, the associations listed under a "GDG BASE" will not contain those GDS which have aliases that were included in the selection criteria and fall lower in the collating sequence. These entries will be listed with those aliases listed earlier in the list.
- EXPLORE now treats non-* type candidate volumes differently:
- Volume oriented filters other than VOLTYPE are based on those volumes that are non-* type candidates.
- Volume information for non-* type candidates is no longer suppressed in ICF lists or in the extracts.
- Number of extents for non-* type candidates is now included in the extent count.
