CKM04150W BCS Extension Record Inconsistency Detected - Code=xxxxxx

Explanation

RECOVER BCS detected an unexpected count or gap of extension record numbers associated with a particular VSAM, GDG, or Usercatalog Sphere. The CODE= value is information that is meaningful only to Customer Support. The anomaly detection forces RECOVER to invoke Filter/Analyze processing, unless NO-ANALYZE is explicitly specified. If there are multiple occurrences of this type of anomaly, only the first detection is reported.

Extraneous base or extension records can occasionally be included in the BCS Backup when orphaned C/A's (due to failed C/A Split activity) have been picked up by a PHYSICAL backup process. The Filter/Analyze phase of RECOVER will rebuild or discard any BCS record or component that is not of sound structural integrity.

User response

None, however specifying either ANALYZE or an inert filtering keyword such as INCLUDE-DSN(**) will suppress this RC=4 message from being issued. Specifying NO-ANALYZE is generally not recommended and should be used only under the direction of Customer Support.
