Errors Cost report

The Errors Cost Report reads the last available Audit ERRSUM file and the DFSMShsm File Statistics Records (FSR), reporting the action in the appropriate group cost. The Errors Cost audit report is a useful tool for knowing and understanding the resource waste costs associated with the errors that are found in each DFSMShsm Control Data Set and DFSMShsm owned and managed tape.

Select the Errors Cost Report option from the Auditing Reports Menu to display a filter panel for the Auditing Errors Cost panel. You can specify filters on CPU cost, tape cost, FSR history usage, or any combination of these.

Note: If you specify multiple filters, AND logic is used when the filters are evaluated. All filters must be true for a candidate to be included in the report.
CPU Cost (per second)
The cost of one second of CPU time, in cents (hundredths of a dollar). The default of 25 cents ($0.25 US) is used for the cost of a single CPU second that was used for reading the errors associated to the specific Control Data Set or HSM owned tape. You can change this cost variable to a new cost associated with your site. Use one of these formats for specifying the filter value:
  • nn for costs of 01-99 cents (US). For example, to specify a cost of 75 cents, you would type 75. To specify a cost of 9 cents, you would type 09.
  • nnn for costs that are equal to or greater than 1 dollar (US). For example, to specify a cost of $3.80, you would type 380.
Tape Cost (per cartridge)
The cost of one tape cartridge, in cents (hundredths of a dollar). The default of 1 dollar (US) is used for the cost of a tape cartridge used for reading the errors associated to the specific Control Data Set or HSM owned tape. Use one of these formats for specifying the filter value:
  • nn for costs of 01-99 dollars (US). For example, to specify a value of 9 dollars, you would type 09.
  • nnn for costs that are equal to or greater than 100 dollars (US). For example, to specify a value of 170 dollars, you would type 170.
Use FSR History
The default value is N. Type Y if you want the FSR history that is collected to be used for reporting. Otherwise, a 24-hour period of the recent HSM activity is reported.

Type your filtering values and press Enter to proceed to the Auditing Errors Cost panel.
