IBM TRIRIGA Application Suite software support lifecycle policy
IBM TRIRIGA Application Suite (TAS) has an IBM standard lifecycle policy with a different lifecycle than applies to the stand-alone bundled product, IBM Cloud Pak For Data.
The software support lifecycle policy for IBM TRIRIGA Application Suite is a unique combination of the IBM Standard Software Support Lifecycle Policy (3+2) and the software support lifecycle policies of the bundled product, IBM Cloud Pak For Data.
Overview
IBM TRIRIGA Application Suite both contains a bundled product and uses software from open source projects. IBM Cloud Pak For Data, has its own support lifecycle policy, but the open source software does not, which makes the TAS Support Lifecycle Policy more complex than usual.
It is important to understand these cases:
- IBM TRIRIGA Application Suite is itself a versioned product that follows the IBM Standard Software Support Lifecycle Policy (3+2).
- Some bundled products, such as IBM Cloud Pak For Data, follow different support lifecycles to TAS. IBM will ensure that a suitable upgrade path is available for customers of TAS such that bundled products can continue to comply with their respective support lifecycles. Refer to the TAS Compatibility Matrix for updates that will reflect the most recent versions of bundled products, to ensure your software updates are compatible.
- Support for such components is available through your usual IBM Support channels, with defined response goals. If a defect is determined to be in any IBM or Red Hat product, your IBM Support representative works with the owning teams to resolve the defect and deliver a fix. For open-source software/third party support information, see the IBM Open Source and Third party software policy.
The numbering scheme for the version of IBM TRIRIGA Application Suite is based on the SemVer, semantic versioning specification defined at: http://semver.org/.
major.minor.patch
, where:- MAJOR
- Number changes occur when significant changes are introduced between releases, including incompatible changes.
- MINOR
- Number changes indicate a new release.
- PATCH
- Number changes for fix updates.
IBM TRIRIGA
Application Suite treats each major and minor version (as
in major.minor.patch
semantic versioning) as a new IBM Release with new support
dates. New patch versions are equivalent to a fix pack or update to the package and does not start
a new set of support dates.
Support open source in TRIRIGA Application Suite
IBM TRIRIGA Application Suite includes the tested and supported integration of several open source projects used in combination to deliver product capabilities and end user experience.
IBM will support (in accordance with the characteristics of support described above) these open source components, however support is limited to their use in delivering the product capabilities and end user experience of TAS. IBM does not support the use of these open source projects if they have been unbundled from the IBM TRIRIGA Application Suite, or, if after the installation of IBM TRIRIGA Application Suite, they are used separate from or independently of TAS.
Any reported problems must be reproducible on a supported IBM TRIRIGA Application Suite package.
Updating the component parts of TAS with later versions of the included open source components is not supported, if not IBM tested and listed on the TAS Compatibility Matrix.
For supported open source components of TAS, if an identified problem requires a fix to an open source project, the ability to deliver this fix is contingent on the open source community project accepting and publishing the fix for the required version of the open source project. IBM will supply reasonable effort to identify the fix and work with the community to have the fix included in an appropriate release.
Support schedule for TRIRIGA Application Suite
Software support discontinuance, or end of service, for a product is announced at least twelve months before it becomes effective. If you require additional technical support from IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date, contact your IBM representative or IBM business partner.
For more information about the support dates for IBM TRIRIGA Application Suite releases, see the IBM Software Lifecycle Policy page where you can search for TAS.
