Requirements and mandatory update paths for updates to version 8.19.6
Updates to 8.19.6 must follow the appropriate update path based on your current Turbonomic version.
When updating from 8.19.5 or earlier to 8.19.6, all of the following steps must be applied to ensure a successful and stable update.
-
Determine your current version and required update path.
Before performing any update actions, identify your current Turbonomic version and follow the corresponding update path described in the following sections.
-
If you are running a Turbonomic version between 8.15.6 and 8.17.3, you must first perform a mandatory intermediate update to version 8.18.0. Any version between 8.15.6 and 8.17.3 cannot be updated directly to 8.19.6.
Required update sequence:
-
Update to 8.18.0.
-
Wait until all components are fully running and healthy.
-
Update to 8.19.6 by following step 2.
-
-
If your Turbonomic version is not between 8.15.6 and 8.17.3, you can skip to the next step.
-
-
Apply mandatory requirements for all updates to 8.19.6.
After completing the appropriate update path in step 1, perform the following steps:
-
Apply the 8.19.6 CRD definitions using
charts_v1_xl_crd.yaml. -
Apply the 8.19.6-based operator (42.104) using
operator.yaml. -
Update Turbonomic to version 8.19.6. Ensure that no components are tagged for any version lower than 8.19.6.
-
Ensure all deployed components are updated to 8.19.6.
Important:-
Updating only the operator while keeping Turbonomic or any component below 8.19.6 is not supported.
-
Deploying or retaining components tagged below 8.19.6 before, as part of, or after an update to 8.19.6 is not supported.
-
Always verify component health before proceeding between update steps.
-
Failure to meet these requirements may result in components failing to start, remaining unavailable, or entering crash/restart loops.
