Check the status of Tape Manager

To verify that the Tape Manager service machines have been successfully started and are able to process requests:

  1. Log on to an authorized user ID. This user ID must be authorized to issue the Tape Manager STATUS command. This can be done by giving the user administrator or operations authority (as defined in the configuration file using the Admins or Operations statement.)
  2. Issue the following commands to instruct Tape Manager to output status information:
    TAPCMD STATUS
    CP SMSG TxDMM STATUS
    CP SMSG TxLM1 STATUS

If you do not have a Library Manager Machine (TxLM1), then you can skip that command.

Replace TxDMM and TxLM1 with one of the following, based on your environment:
    • Specify TMDMM and TMLM1 if you are in a Dedicated Catalog or RMM catalog environment.
    • Specify TCDMM and TCLM1 if you are in a Shared Catalog environment and this is the catalog node.
    • Specify TRDMM and TRLM1 if you are in a Shared Catalog environment and this is a request node.
  3. Several messages from Tape Manager appear indicating the status of the servers.
