The following table lists the return codes for POOLMOD.

| 0 | Finished correctly |
| 20 | Unauthorized request |
| 24 | Bad PLIST |
| 26 | I/O Error |
| 28 | Duplicate pool ID |
| 30 | Unexpected error |
| 1000 | Termination I/O error |
| 2000 | Termination logic error |
| 3000 | Termination syntax error |
| 4xxx | User interface error (See note below.) |
