License Manager

The IBM® TRIRIGA® License Manager tool is available at Tools > Administration > License Manager. The License Manager includes a List View and a Matrix View.

The Matrix View is also known as the License Matrix.

Note: If you use IBM TRIRIGA Application Suite (TAS), the License Manager also includes a Summary tab, which provides a summary of the TAS licenses and their user-assigned Application Points (AppPoints). You can also select Export Summary. For more information, see Managing user licenses by using Application Points.

Every TRIRIGA customer is different. There is no default or standard set of TRIRIGA licenses. Over time, it might be necessary to add or remove licenses for specific users or all assigned users. We recommend that you review your license usage regularly to make sure that your company or organization isn't using too few or too many licenses for your current business processes.

TRIRIGA administrators can see what access is provided by the licenses they have installed in the License Manager, or in the Administrator Console in the Licenses page. An administrator can also choose a user on the left panel to see the license access granted for that specific user. To search for a user, enter a Name. To choose a user, select a name from the search results. The main view area displays the license access that is granted for that specific user.

License files

Over time, because of license agreement changes, a TRIRIGA administrator might be required to add or remove specific product licenses for all assigned users. To do this, you can add or remove any licenses in the [tririga_root]\config\licenses directory, then restart the application server. For more information, see IBM TRIRIGA Application Platform 3.2 and later.

Employee or People records

Over time, because of employee or role changes, a TRIRIGA administrator might decide to add or remove licenses for a specific user. You can edit the specific Employee or People record, click the Profile tab, scroll down to the License Details section, add or remove any licenses, then Save or Activate the record. For more information, see Creating people records.

Tip: Licenses vs. Security Groups

A license defines the full set of functional access that is granted from a specific TRIRIGA product. A security group defines the specific set or subset of builder tools, modules, business objects (BOs), or UX models that can be accessed within that specific licensed product. Two users might have the same license for a product, but be in different security groups with different functional access within the product. For example, two users might have the same "IBM TRIRIGA Workplace Reservation Manager" (Reserve) license. However, one user might be in the "Request Central - Reserve" group while the other user might be in the "Reservation Coordinator" group, each with different Reserve functionality.

Note: The IBM TRIRIGA Workplace Reservation Manager and IBM TRIRIGA Workplace Services "Install" licenses are automatically assigned to all users, so they don't need to be explicitly assigned.
