Supported power cords (BPA)
Attached plugs are included with the power line cords in USA and Canada. The line cord length is 4267.2 mm (14 ft) outside the frame. Power plugs in the following table are approved for use with specified models and meet the relevant safety agency or country/test-house standards. The power plug must be connected to a correctly wired and grounded receptacle. The customer is responsible for receptacle wiring. For example: For WYE sources, you must ensure the neutral is wired to the receptacle!
For countries that require other types of plugs or receptacles, the system is shipped without plugs on the line cords, and you are responsible for supplying and installing both plugs and receptacles.
Important:
In a typical three-phase power cord, there are five or six wires inside the cut cord cable. There are the three phase wires (or the three phase wires and a neutral wire if WYE connected), one ground wire, and a small diameter wire that is connected to the cable shield and serves as a drain. This drain wire must connect to the cable ground (NOT neutral, if neutral is present).

- Except US, Japan, Australia, Korea, India, China, and all CNN.
- CNN includes the following geographies: Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Barbados, Burmuda, Guyana, Caymon Islands, Canada, Jamaica, Dutch Caribbean, Aruba, Bonnaire, Curacao, St. Marten NA, Anguilla, Antigua, BVI Tortola, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, Dominica, Grenada, St. Vincent, Suriname Trinidad.
- Cut end cord; no plug is provided. Plug is provided by the customer and is electrician-installed.
- It is strongly recommended that you use a metal back box (example shown below) with our
line cords using IEC-60309 plugs. Although in-line connectors and nonmetallic backboxes are
available and compatible, they are not recommended. These recommendations are based on the metal
back box providing:
- An added level of protection against a miswired phase and ground reversal
- In some cases, a metal back box may be better for EMI mitigation
- The customer must obtain the appropriate plugs and receptacles, based on existing electrical codes, where those plugs and receptacles are not provided with the system.
- See Line cord wire specifications (BPA) for descriptions of the power cord feature codes.
- Only the connector is supported because these cords attach directly to the system.
- If a receptacle is not available, then the connector that is listed should be used in its place.
- IBM part numbers are subject to change.
