The purpose of the Console application programming interfaces is to provide an open set of interfaces and a workstation platform for system management application providers. The interfaces provide the capability to use object-based industry-standard programming interfaces instead of building home-grown release specific programs for collecting the hardware information needed to provide an integrated hardware and software system management solution. This publication assists IBM Z® and IBM® LinuxONE system management independent software vendors and customers in developing system management applications that provide integrated hardware and software system management solutions using the Console programming interfaces. Detailed information includes console Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) objectives, architecture, data structures, usage, and console managed object definitions and identifications.
