Fiber optic cleaning

If you are experiencing excessive bit errors, it is recommended that you first clean and reassemble the connections, using the Fiber Optic Cleaning Procedure found in the Maintenance Information for Fiber Optic Links, SY27-7698. The information includes the procedure and materials required. The cleaning is best performed by skilled personnel. The cleaning procedure may need to be performed more than once to ensure all dust, dirt, or oil is removed. Fiber Optic link testing information is also contained in this publication.
