Hardware Management Console

If the 2461 Hardware Management Appliance (FC 0355) is not ordered, a 2461 Hardware Management Console (FC 0062 or FC 0063) is required to operate the 9176. The previous 2461 HMCs (FC 0083, FC 0082, FC 0095, or FC 0096) can be carried forward. A single console can support multiple machines and can be located remotely to the physical sites.

Note: Ensemble HMC configuration is no longer supported.

The Hardware Management Console consists of:

  • The 2461 Hardware Management Console Tower (FC 0062) consists of:
    • A processor or system unit, including two Ethernet LAN adapters, capable of operating at 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps and will use removable UFDs to install Licensed Machine Code (LMC)
    • Optional HMC Tabletop KMM (keyboard, monitor, mouse) - FC 0148
    • The console requires a customer-supplied table to hold the KMM.

See Hardware Management Console physical specifications for physical specifications of the 2461 HMC Tower (FC 0062).

  • The 2461 Hardware Management Console Rack Mount (FC 0063) consists of:
    • 1U HMC system unit, including two Ethernet LAN adapters, capable of operating at 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps and will use removable UFDs to install Licensed Machine Code (LMC)
    • Optional 1U HMC Rack Mount KMM (keyboard, monitor, mouse) - FC 0154
    • Three C13/C14 10 amp power jumper cables (2.8 m (9 ft))
    • The customer must provide the following:
      • A rack to hold the 1U Hardware Management Console and the 1U Rack Mount KMM
      • Three power receptacles, which provides C13 outlets for the C13/C14 power jumper cables -- two for the 1U HMC system unit and one for the KMM.

See Hardware Management Console physical specifications for physical specifications of the 2461 HMC Rack Mount (FC 0063).

The Hardware Management Console (FC 0062) requires two 110/120V AC outlets for USA and Canada. The Hardware Management Console (FC 0063) uses three PDU plug positions (two for the 1U HMC unit for USA and Canada. (Other power requirements are country dependent.)

An Ethernet switch will not be offered as a configurable feature on 9176. If an Ethernet switch is needed to manage the Ethernet connection between the Support Elements and HMCs, you must supply your own. It is recommended that the Ethernet switch support a speed of 1 Gbps.

The Ethernet switch requires a single 110/120V outlet for USA and Canada. (Other power requirements are country dependent.)

Physical specifications for the Hardware Management Console components are located in Hardware Management Console physical specifications.
