Controlling edge routing
You can get more control over edge routing with endpoint locking and manual orthogonal segment adjustments.
Procedure
- To refine routing and eliminate overlaps without
changing node positions, you can manually adjust orthogonal edges.
- Hover over an edge. A small blue adjustment handle appears on the segment. If you select the edge, all handles on the edge appear.
- Drag the handle to adjust the segment orthogonally. You can drag horizontal segments up or down and vertical segments left or right.
- Preserve the current edge routing by locking
endpoints once you are satisfied with your layout.
- Lock a single endpoint
-
- Select the desired endpoint. If you hover or select the edge, the Lock icon appears.
- Click the Lock icon or from the contextual menu, click Lock endpoint.
The locked endpoint remains fixed in its current position, and the opposite endpoint if unlocked continues to adjust automatically by using intelligent routing when nodes are moved.
- Lock an entire edge
-
- Select the edge.
- From the edge toolbar, click Lock edge.
The edge behaves as a fully fixed connection. The endpoint will not reposition automatically when connected nodes are moved.
- Lock all endpoints connected to a node
-
- Select the node.
- From the node toolbar, click Lock all connected edge endpoints.
All connected endpoints are locked simultaneously. When the node is moved, all connected endpoints remain fixed in their current positions.
You can unlock the edges by following the same procedure.
