Installing IBM Security Verify Directory packages on AIX and Linux operating systems

Use steps provided to install or upgrade IBM® Security Verify Directory packages on AIX® and Linux® operating systems.

Before you begin

Before you begin installing IBM Security Verify Directory packages, you must do the following steps:

  1. Log on the system with root privileges.
  2. Extract the IBM Security Verify Directory Version 10.0.2 archive file to a directory, for example/sdsV10.0.2, with adequate disk space.
  3. Stop all "Directory Server" product-related client and server processes, including the directory server, administration server, and custom LDAP applications. Programs and libraries cannot be replaced while they are in use. If tracing is set, run ldtrc off to stop the trace process. See the "Basic server administration tasks" and "Directory administration server" sections in the Administering, Server Administration section of the IBM Security Verify Directory documentation for instructions to stop the directory server instances and administration servers.

About this task

You can use the idsinstall command to install IBM Security Verify Directory packages on AIX and Linux operating systems.

Procedure

  1. Go to the directory with the idsinstall installation program.
  2. Run the idsinstall command.
    For example,
    ./idsinstall -i
  3. Read through the IBM Security Verify Directory license information and at the end press "1" to accept the agreement and complete the installation.
  4. Optional Step: If you extracted an image of IBM Security Verify Directory entitled package, go to the "entitlement" folder and install the entitlement package.
    For example, on AIX:
    cd <isvd10_extract_path>/entitlement
    installp -acXgYd . idsldap
    On Linux:
    cd <isvd10_extract_path>/entitlement
    rpm -ihv idsldap-ent*

Results

After you finish running the idsinstall command, it installs IBM Security Verify Directory IBM Security Verify Directory Version 10.0.2 packages.

Note: If IBM Security Verify Directory Version 10.0.2 was not previously installed on the system, then all the components of IBM Security Verify Directory Version 10.0.2 are installed. IBM Security Verify Directory Version 10.0.2 is installed in /opt/IBM/ldap/V10.0.2/ on AIX systems and in /opt/ibm/ldap/V10.0.2/ on Linux systems.
