Use Instance Administration Tool to upgrade a directory server
instance or a proxy server instance of a previous supported version to Version 10.0.1.
You must complete the following tasks before you upgrade an
instance with Instance Administration Tool:
- Complete IBM® Security Verify
Directory, Version 10.0.1 installation.
- Set up the environment before you upgrade an instance. See, Setting the environment before you upgrade an instance.
- Log in as a root user on AIX®, or Linux™ operating system, and as a member of the Administrator group on the Windows™ operating system.
About this task
You can upgrade from IBM Security Verify
Directory, Version 6.3 , 6.3.1, 6.4 or 10.0
to Version 10.0.1. After you upgrade an
instance of a previous version, the instance is converted to a fully functional instance of IBM Security Verify
Directory, Version 10.0.1.
- Access the command prompt.
- Change the current working directory to sbin.
The following location is the default on various operating systems:
- Microsoft™ Windows
- C:\Program Files\IBM\ldap\V10.0.1\sbin
- AIX
- /opt/IBM/ldap/V10.0.1/sbin
- Linux
- /opt/ibm/ldap/V10.0.1/sbin
- To start Instance Administration Tool,
run the following command:
Note: On Windows system, you can start from the
Start menu. Click .
idsxinst
- Select a previous version of an instance that you want
to upgrade.
- Click Migrate.
- In the Migrate directory server instance window,
click Migrate.
- When Instance Administration Tool prompts
after it completes the upgrade operation, click OK.
- Verify the summary information.
- To close the Migrate directory server instance window,
click Close.
- Take offline backup of the instance.
- To close Instance Administration Tool,
click Close.
Instance Administration Tool upgrade a previous version of directory server
instance to 10.0.1.

You must start the ibmslapd process and
the administration server that is associated with the directory server
