Message types

Verify Identity Access is written in both the C and Java™ programming languages, with different types of messages for each programming language.

Applications that use the Verify Identity Access APIs are also written in these programming languages.

Verify Identity Access produces the following types of messages:
Runtime messages
Messages that are generated by applications, commands, and utilities that use the Verify Identity Access Runtime component, and messages that are generated from the C language-based Verify Identity Access components, such as Reverse Proxy. These messages are written to the runtime message logs based on their severity levels.
IBM Verify Identity Access Runtime for Java messages
Messages that are generated by applications, commands, and utilities that use the IBM Verify Identity Access Runtime for Java component, and messages that are generated from the Java language-based Verify Identity Access components. These messages are written to the IBM Verify Identity Access Runtime for Java message logs. These messages tend to provide exception and stack trace information from the JRE.
Server messages
Messages that are generated by the Verify Identity Access daemons and servers. Messages from the Policy server, Authorization server, and Reverse Proxy servers are written to the server message logs.
Installation and configuration messages
Messages that are generated during installation and by the configuration utilities. Some of these messages follow the message standard and have an associated ID.
Reverse Proxy HTTP messages
Reverse Proxy provides the capability of logging HTTP messages. This message log capability is described in the Auditing topics in the Knowledge Center.
