Creating a connection

Connection is created automatically on IBM® Verify.

About this task

This process automatically performs the following steps on IBM Verify:
  • Create a new API client
  • Create a new registration profile
This process will automatically perform the following steps on Verify Identity Access:
  • Create a new Server Connection by using the new API Client from IBM Verify
  • Modify the default Point of Contact profile
    CAUTION: This change effects your current environment
  • Create new Authentication Mechanisms instances for Authentication and User Self Care
  • Create two new example Authentication Policies for demonstrating Authentication and User Self Care

The Verify Identity Access runtime is restarted during this process.

Procedure

  1. Click the Connect button under the Strong Authentication using IBM Verify APIs heading to launch the setup wizard dialog.
  2. Provide the Administration Hostname for the IBM Verify subscription to connect to. This hostname is typically of the format <subscription name>.ice.ibmcloud.com.
  3. Click the Login to IBM Verify button.
    A new browser tab opens to the login page of the IBM Verify subscription. Complete the login by using an account with administrative entitlements. When the login is successful, the browser tab closes and the setup wizard continues. The setup wizard indicate that the login to IBM Verify was successful.
  4. Click the Next button to continue.
  5. Optional: Click the Learn More button to see a summary of the changes that will be made to the IBM Verify subscription and to the IBM Verify Identity Access appliance.
  6. The wizard prompts for an authenticator registration profile. Perform one of the following procedures:
    • To reuse an existing profile, select Reuse an existing registration profile and enter the profile ID in the Profile ID field.
    • To create a new profile, select Create a new registration profile.
  7. Click Submit to continue.
    The Local Management Interface now performs the required configuration. When this process is complete, the wizard automatically advances to the Success page. The Success page provides a summary of the changes made and next steps which should be performed.
    1. Create a Reverse Proxy instance.
    2. Perform Advanced Access Control configuration.
    3. Try the following IBM Verify Authentication Policies:
      • IBM Verify User Self Care <subscription hostname>
        https://reverse_proxy/mga/sps/authsvc?PolicyId=urn:ibm:security:authentication:asf:ci_selfcare_<subscription short name>
      • IBM Verify Authentication <subscription hostname>
        https://reverse_proxy/mga/sps/authsvc?PolicyId=urn:ibm:security:authentication:asf:ci_auth_<subscription short name>
  8. Click Close to end the setup wizard.
