Hardware end of support alerts notifications in IBM Support Insights
The Hardware end of support alerts section is located immediately after the Coverage alerts and is collapsed by default, with notifications being disabled. The section can be expanded by clicking anywhere on it. The slider on the right-hand side of the section shows whether the notifications are enabled or disabled, and is colored gray when disabled and green when enabled. Once you have expanded the section, you will be able to configure the alert priorities (High, Medium, Low) you wish to receive, along with the frequency.
In the first available selector - you choose the alert type (based on the hardware's EoS status) - either High (past end of support date), High (less than 5 months), Medium (5-8 months), Low, or a combination of those options. The fields allow a multiple choice selection, therefore you may opt to receive notices about one or more of the available alert types via mail notifications.
In the second selector - you choose the frequency of the e-mail notifications, with the available options being quarterly, monthly and weekly. Based on your period selection, the dropdown located immediately after the options is different.
If you opt for quarterly notifications - you will be prompted to choose a day of the week, on which to receive the notification e-mail (first such week day of the quarter). If your choice is monthly e-mails, you will need to select a specific date of the month. And, lastly, if you select the weekly option - you will then define which day of the week the alerts are sent out on.
The third selector determines the means of receiving the notifications. Email is the only currently supported means. If you switch the toggle icon button next to the Email option to a disabled state, that will automatically disable the button for activating the notifications, therefore the subscription will become inactive.
Once you have made your preferred selections, click on the grayed out toggle, located on the right-hand side of the section - it serves as a switch for turning the notification subscription on and off. When clicked, it changes its state (from off to on) and its color (from gray to green), indicating that the preferences are saved, and that the notifications are enabled. A small Subscription update pop-up will also appear on the screen, to indicate the successful activation, along with a time-stamp. The Hardware end of support alerts section will return to a collapsed state once again, and you can click on it again to view and modify your preferences.
If you choose to disable the notification subscription - you may do so by again using the on/off toggle. Once you have turned it off, a small Subscription update pop-up will again appear on the screen, to indicate the successful action of disabling the subscription, along with a time-stamp of the action.
Please, note that the notification settings are set per user per client, hence if you have access to multiple clients and wish to receive notifications for several of them - you will need to configure your notification subscriptions for each client separately.
Mail notifications are sent out from IBM.Support.Insights.Notify@ibm.com . As mail servers have different policies and configurations - please make sure to add the e-mail ID to your list of trusted senders, in order to assure that you will receive all necessary mails from the application.
