IBM Streams 4.3.0
Operating system requirements for IBM Streams
IBM® Streams supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (IBM Streams 4.3.1 only), and the Community Enterprise Operating System (CentOS).
Important:
- If you are running
IBM
Streams across multiple
resources, ensure that you satisfy the following requirements:
- All resources must run on the same product version and release of IBM Streams.
- All resources must run on the same hardware system (x86_64 or IBM Power Systems™) and system architecture (64-bit).
- All resources on IBM Power Systems must run in the same little endian mode.
- RHEL and CentOS resources can run in a mixed operating system environment if all resources have the same major operating system version (Version 6 or 7).
A mixed operating system environment is not supported for SLES resources.
- If you are upgrading your RHEL or CentOS operating system version, see Considerations and restrictions when migrating RHEL and CentOS systems from Version 6 to Version 7.
- IBM
Streams provides tools that help you to verify this requirement on single and multiple
resources:
- Before installation, run the dependency checker script to verify requirements on the resources that you plan to install IBM Streams on. If you are installing the product on a cluster of resources, run the dependency checker script on each resource in the cluster. For more information about this tool, see IBM Streams dependency checker script.
- After installation, you can use the streamtool checkhosts, checkdomainhosts, and checkinstancehosts commands to verify requirements on single or multiple resources. For more information about these commands, see Verifying requirements for IBM Streams resources.
