Software requirements for the Quick Start Edition for Linux
Before you install the Quick Start Edition, ensure that you satisfy the software requirements for IBM® Streams. To check these requirements on your system, IBM Streams provides a dependency checker script that you run before installing the Quick Start Edition.
Operating system requirements
All IBM Streams hosts must run a supported version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), the Community Enterprise Operating System (CentOS), or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES).The following table lists the supported operating system

Java requirements and options
For application development, IBM Streams supports the IBM SDK Java™ Technology Edition Version 8 and the Java SE Development Kit 8 from Oracle.The IBM SDK is installed when you install the Quick Start Edition.
Required RPMs
To operate correctly, IBM Streams requires a set of prerequisite RPMs.The dependency checker script that you run before installing the Quick Start Edition identifies any required RPMs that are not installed. This script assumes that you have installed the minimum required RPMs for your operating system.
