Installing InfoSphere DataStage

While installing InfoSphere DataStage, you can follow certain guidelines to complete the procedure.

Important: If you are installing InfoSphere DataStage as a non-root user, read the information that is provided in Installing InfoSphere DataStage as a non-root user.
Consider the following points before you install InfoSphere DataStage.
  • You must install InfoSphere DataStage on a single, non-clustered node.
  • When you install InfoSphere DataStage, you must select only IBM InfoSphere DataStage as this is the only component that is licensed with IBM Emptoris.
  • Retain the default values during installation unless specified in the guidelines.
  • For InfoSphere DataStage 11.3.1.2 and 11.5, you can install only one instance of InfoSphere DataStage on one database. To install multiple instances of InfoSphere DataStage on the same database, see Metadata Repository for multiple instances of InfoSphere DataStage.

Guidelines

Use the following guidelines to install InfoSphere DataStage:

  1. After you download and extract the InfoSphere DataStage files, run the installation program by using the following command: Execute ./setup.
  2. The result message contains the URL for the installation wizard. Copy the URL and open it in a browser.
  3. Select the language for the installation (English) and click Login.
  4. Follow the prompts in the wizard to continue installing InfoSphere DataStage. Retain the default options unless specified.
  5. For the Installation Type Selection, select New Installation.
  6. From the Tier Selection step, select Services Tier and Engine Tier. Select the Metadata Repository Tier only if you are planning to install the DB2 database on the same system and use it as the metadata repository.
    Note: Only one instance of InfoSphere DataStage can be installed on the same database.
  7. In the Product Selection step, from the Product module name list, select the check box for IBM InfoSphere DataStage.
  8. For the Software License Agreement, accept the terms for the product module license.
  9. In the High Availability Server Cluster Configuration step, do not select any option.
  10. In the WebSphere Application Server data source for the staging area step, provide the access information for the database that hosts the staging area. It can be an Oracle or DB2 database.
  11. In the Application Server Options step, select Install WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment.
  12. In the IBM WebSphere Application Server Installation Directory step, select the default WebSphere Application Server Profile Port.

    If you use custom ports, use the corresponding custom ports in the URL to access the IIS web console.

  13. In the Application Server Administrator step, create a user for the Application Server Administration. The default user name is wasadmin.
  14. In the IBM InfoSphere Information Server Administrator step, create an Administrator user for IBM InfoSphere Information Server. The default user is isadmin.
  15. In the IBM InfoSphere DataStage Installation Options step, select IBM InfoSphere DataStage edition to develop parallel and server jobs.
  16. In the IBM InfoSphere DataStage Administrator step, create an Administrator user for IBM InfoSphere DataStage Administrator. The default user is root.
    Important: If you are installing InfoSphere DataStage as a non-root user, enter the details of the non-root user here. For example, if you create the operating system user emptoris for the user group emptoris, enter the details for the non-root user emptoris in this step.
  17. In the IBM InfoSphere DataStage and IBM InfoSphere QualityStage Globalization step, select Install globalization support.
  18. In the IBM Websphere MQ Plug-in Selection step, do not enter any values. Click Next.
  19. In the Preinstallation Summary for the Current Computer step, click Install.
  20. Review the post-installation summary.
