Sorting products while picking

A store associate must be able to sort products in a batch while picking them.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Sterling Store Engagement. The Home page opens. Switch to the Order Fulfillment View by using the eye icon.
  2. On the Pick Orders portlet, click Pick Batches. The Batches screen opens.
  3. Click the Configure batches icon. The Preferences dialog opens.
  4. Select Sort while pick as the picking method. Optionally, you can limit the number of orders that you want to allow in a batch by using the slider.
  5. Click Update. An appropriate message is displayed, click OK. The preferences are applied to new batches and not in-progress batches.
If the batch is associated with more than one department, click Multiple departments to view the information.
  6. Click Pick or Continue for the appropriate batch.
    • If you click Pick, the products in the batch are displayed.
    • If you click Continue, the process will resume from where you left off. If another store associate has already initiated the batch pick process, a confirmation message is displayed that allows you to either continue the process or exit. If picking for all the products is not complete, you can continue to pick or short the remaining products. If picking is complete but staging is pending, then you are directly taken to the Assign Staging Location screen.
Note: If you have chosen to refine batch lines, then the products are displayed based on the option that you select in the Refine menu. If you have chosen "To be picked", once you completely pick or short a product, only the remaining products are displayed. If you have chosen "All", then all the products are displayed even after picking or recording shortage is complete.
  7. Either scan the barcode of the product that you are picking, or select the product and click Pick, to pick manually. The tote assignment screen opens.
  8. Scan the tote barcode or enter the Tote ID manually in the Place in Tote # field and click Save. You are taken back to the Products screen. If a tote already exists for the order to which the product belongs, the tote ID is populated in the Place in Tote # field and the existing tote IDs for the product are listed along with the quantities. However, they are not editable.
For each quantity of a product in a batch and for all products in the batch, repeat steps 7 and 8.
    • If there is a shortage, select the product and click Record Shortage. The Record Shortage window opens.
      1. Select an appropriate shortage reason.
      2. Click Apply.
    • You can reduce the quantity of a product in a tote.
      • Click Edit for a particular product. The screen that allows you to assign totes opens.
      • Click minus button corresponding to the tote in which you want to reduce the quantity.
        Notes:
        1. Totes are sorted based on priority of their corresponding orders.
        2. The plus button is disabled in the Edit mode.
      • Click Done. If the quantity of product being reduced belongs to an order with higher SLA than another order containing the same product, a tote rearrangement is required and consequently an appropriate information message is displayed.
  9. Once all products are placed in totes, you are prompted to Assign Staging Location or Finish the batch pick process.
Note: If the system administrator has configured the application such that staging location is not required to complete the process, you will not be prompted to assign staging location.
    • Click Assign Staging Location to assign a staging location for each tote in a batch.
      1. On the Assign Staging Location screen, you can either scan a tote for which you want to assign a staging location or select the tote and click Assign.
      2. In the Current Tote screen, scan the staging location barcode or enter the staging location ID and click Save.

Repeat steps a and b for each of the totes in the batch.

      3. Once a staging location is assigned to all the totes, an appropriate success message is displayed prompting you to complete the batch pick and return to the Batches screen. If you click No, you will remain on the same screen. You can click Finish to complete the process.
    • Click Finish to complete the batch and return to the Batches screen. You need to click Finish in the following scenarios:
      • After assigning staging location to all totes, if you need to assign more than one staging location to a tote.
      • If you want to complete batch pick process before assigning staging location to all totes.
