Checking the availability of products

As a store associate, you can search for a product and check its availability for various fulfillment options.

About this task

You can check the availability for any of the delivery methods, namely, Available in store, Available to ship, and Available for pick up.

Procedure

  1. Log on to Sterling Store Engagement.
  2. Search for the product by using the Find products portlet or the global search feature. For more information about searching for products, see Finding products.
    The Product details page displays the product description, availability for various delivery options, variants, and related products.
  3. Expand Product variants to view the variants of the product, for example, in a different color or size. The available delivery method is updated based on the variant you select.
  4. Expand Product description to view the detailed product description and share the information with the customer, if required.
  5. Expand Related products to view any products that are related to or can be used as an accessory of this product.
  6. Expand In-store inventory details to view the number of units of this product that is available in the current store and the locations in which it is available, if the store has locations configured.
    Note: The In-store inventory details panel is displayed only if Store Inventory Management is enabled. For more information, see Configuring inventory management capability in stores.

Checking the availability of product for various delivery methods

  1. After you select the product variant and size, select the delivery method that the customer prefers.
    • If the product is available for sale in the current store, select Available in store.
    • If you want to ship the product from store, select Available to ship. The date by which the product is shipped is displayed.
    • If you want to place an order online for the customer to pick up from another store, select Available for pickup.
  2. To view a list of stores from which the customer can pick up the product, click the date link.
    The Pickup at other stores window displays the stores within a 25 miles radius, by default. Adjust the distance slider to increase or decrease the distance radius based on the preference of the customer.

    To search for a specific stores, click the Search stores tab, enter the relevant details, and click Search. A list of stores within the default radius from the current store is displayed with their address and distance from the current store.

    The In Stock or Out of Stock labels show the availability of a product in a particular store. You can change the radius to view more stores by adjusting the slider or by entering the radius manually.
  3. To search for a store based on its geographic location, click the Search stores tab. The country of the current store is populated by default. You can search for a store by entering either a state and city or by entering the zip code.
    Note: Blank search is not supported.

Overriding the unit price

You can override the unit price for various reasons such as price adjustment or in-store promotions.

  1. Click the price of the product to override the price. The Price override window pop-up opens.
    1. In the New price per unit field, enter the new price.
    2. Select the reason for the price override.
    3. Notes field is automatically updated with the details. Edit or add more information to the notes, if required.
    4. Click Apply to save the changes.

Results

After you search for and check the availability of a product, you can place an order for the product on behalf of the customer.
