Transitioning functionality from Dojo to Angular framework

Review the list of capabilities present in the Dojo framework, capabilities that are enhanced, and new capabilities that are introduced in the Angular framework. These features are applicable for both software as a service (SaaS) and on premises.
Generic
  • Dojo-based Sterling Store Engagement (Legacy)
    • Supports capability for the order fulfillment task.
  • What is changed in Angular-based Sterling Store Engagement (Next-generation)
    • Supports capability for order fulfillment, customer service, and inventory management tasks. You can access these features from the navigation panel.
    • Does not support multi-tab capability as store associates usually work on a single task at a time.
    • Enhanced UI performance.
  • What is new in Angular-based Sterling Store Engagement (Next-generation)
    • The customer service capabilities include order capture and modification, returns and exchanges, customer and order lookup.
    • Capabilities that are supported for on premises include:
      • Provides a global search capability to search for orders, shipments, customers, and products.
      • Provides visibility to open alerts that are assigned to users or alerts that apply to queues to which the user is subscribed to. Users can take appropriate actions to resolve the alerts.
      • Enables store users to switch between stores.
      • Supports the following modes of inventory configurations:
        • Store Inventory Management not enabled
        • Store Inventory Management enabled so that inventory can be managed in the store.
    • Capabilities that are supported for SaaS include:
      • Inventory management capabilities include receiving, putaway, cycle count, move inventory, inventory lookup, and adjustments.
      • Provides a global search capability to search for orders, shipments, customers, and products.
      • Provides visibility to open alerts that are assigned to users or alerts that apply to queues to which the user is subscribed to. Users can take appropriate actions to resolve the alerts.
      • Supports serial tracked items.
      • Enables store users to switch between stores.
      • Supports the following modes of inventory configurations:
        • Store Inventory Management not enabled
        • Store Inventory Management enabled so that inventory can be managed in the store.
Backroom pick
  • Dojo-based Sterling Store Engagement (Legacy)
    • Supports advanced search to search for shipments and complete picking.
    • For pick tasks with regards to pagination to load more products you must click again.
    • You can pick all products for a shipment by clicking the Pick all button.
    • You can print a pick ticket from the Order summary screen.
    • The Assign staging location hyperlink is available.
  • What is changed in Angular-based Sterling Store Engagement (Next-generation)
    • Provides the list of shipments that are ready to pick and shipments for which picking is in progress. In the pick list, you can view shipments and also refine the pick list by applying a filter criteria.
    • Supports continuous scrolling capability to scroll through the pages and view all products.
    • The Pick all button is present in the Actions menu.
    • The option to print a pick ticket is visible during the pick process.
    • Provides the capability to print pick lists. However, you can print pick list for each shipment and not for a bulk of shipments that are ready for picking.
    • After the backroom pick process is complete, the Assign staging location hyperlink is not displayed.
  • What is new in Angular-based Sterling Store Engagement (Next-generation)
    • Provides the capability to add notes to a shipment while picking.
    • To view the order details for a shipment, a hyperlink is provided in the Shipment Summary screen that takes you to the Order Summary screen.
Pack
  • Dojo-based Sterling Store Engagement (Legacy)
    • To initiate the pack process, two scan fields are provided. One for order search and another one for product search.
    • Provides an advanced search capability to search for shipments that needs to be packed.
    • For pagination, you have to click again to load more products.
    • You have to click multiple times to scan and view the product list.
  • What is changed in Angular-based Sterling Store Engagement (Next-generation)
    • To initiate the pack process, two scan fields are provided. One for order search and another one for product search. Also, a radio button is provided to select any one of the scan options.
    • Provides the count and list of shipments to pack, and also shipments for which pack is in progress. In the Pack list page, you can refine the shipments list by applying filter criteria.
    • For the pack list, separate tabs are provided for sales and transfer order shipments.
    • Supports multi-page scroll capability to scroll through the pages and view all products.
    • The scan field is always visible. Therefore, when scanning you can view the product list.
  • What is new in Angular-based Sterling Store Engagement (Next-generation)
    • Provides the capability to add notes to a shipment while packing.
    • To view the shipment details corresponding to an order, a hyperlink is provided in the Shipment summary screen that takes you to the Order summary screen.
Customer pickup
  • Dojo-based Sterling Store Engagement (Legacy)
    • Provides the capability to search for shipments that needs to be picked up by providing the order number, customer name, telephone, or email ID.
    • Provides an advanced search option to search for shipments that are ready for customer pickup.
    • Provides three screens for customer pickup flow.
    • During customer pickup process, the UI displays customer details, picker ID, pickup date, and so on.
    • Contains two tabs. One tab shows products to be picked. Another tab shows products that are already picked.
    • On completing the customer pickup, you are prompted to print the acknowledgment.
  • What is changed in Angular-based Sterling Store Engagement (Next-generation)
    • Provides the capability to search for a shipment that needs to be picked up by providing the order number, customer name, telephone, or email ID. In the home page for customer pickup, a scan field is provided to search for shipments only by order number or shipment number. The remaining search criteria can be achieved through advanced search.
    • Provides the list of shipments that are available for customer pickup. The home page for customer pickup displays the number of shipments hyperlink that is ready for customer pickup. When you click the number of shipments hyperlink, the list page is displayed.
    • Provides a single page in which you can complete customer verification, pick products from the staging area, and hand over the products to the customer.
    • During customer pickup process, the UI does not display information such as the customer details, user ID who picked the products, pickup date, and so on.
    • Provides only one list that displays all products of the shipment, and the picked quantity.
    • When recording shortage, the Apply the shortage resolution to all products to be picked up option is deprecated.
    • On completing the customer pickup, you are not prompted to print the acknowledgment. Instead, the option to print the acknowledgment is provided as a related task in the Actions menu of the Shipment summary screen.

    • Provides the capability to add notes to the shipment during the customer pickup process.
    • Provides the capability to view the shipment details for an order by providing a hyperlink from the Shipment summary screen that takes you to the Order summary screen.
Ship
  • Dojo-based Sterling Store Engagement (Legacy)

    Provides a drop-down list to select the carrier and then proceed with shipping the packages.

  • What is changed in Angular-based Sterling Store Engagement (Next-generation)

    Displays the count of shipments as a hyperlink that is ready to be shipped. When you click the hyperlink, the list of carriers that needs to be shipped are displayed. You can select the carrier to view the package details or confirm shipping.

  • What is new in Angular-based Sterling Store Engagement (Next-generation)

    No significant changes.

Batch pick
  • Dojo-based Sterling Store Engagement (Legacy)
    • The capability of the Edit button provided for sort-while-pick is the same in both legacy and next-generation applications.
    • Provides the capability to stage all totes or products of an order one at a time.
    • After batch completion, the Batch list screen is displayed.
  • What is changed in Angular-based Sterling Store Engagement (Next-generation)
    • The capability of the Edit button provided for sort-while-pick is the same in both next-generation and legacy applications. However, when you click the Edit button for a product, a page with totes corresponding to the product is displayed. You can edit the quantity.
    • After batch completion, instead of the Batch list screen, the Batch summary is displayed. You can view all the information about the batch, such as orders and products that are picked.
    • Does not provide the option to filter and refine the product list to view only the picked products or products to be picked. This is because, the screen is designed such a way that the need for a filter option does not arise.
  • What is new in Angular-based Sterling Store Engagement (Next-generation)
    • The Batch list screen provides more filter options such as Assigned To and Department Group. It also displays more information about the batches such as the batch type, expected ship date, and so on.
    • The Batch list screen provides a hyperlink to go to the Batch summary screen. Click the hyperlink to view all the orders included in the batch.
    • In addition to staging all totes or products of an order one at a time, you can stage all totes or products of an order at a single staging location.
    • Provides the ability to view the list of orders in a batch during the batch pick process.
    • During picking, an option to print pick list for the batch is provided. In Batch summary, an option to print the list of products for each order is provided. Both these documents are different. The batch summary provides visibility to all orders and products in the batch. The batch picking feature is also enhanced to allow users to complete a batch even if the batch is partially picked. The remaining products are moved in another batch. This is also available in AngularJS flow.
Returns and exchanges
  • Dojo-based Sterling Store Engagement (Legacy)

    Provides the Return disposition window to update inventory.

  • What is changed in Angular-based Sterling Store Engagement (Next-generation)

    Does not provide the Return disposition window. Instead, you can configure disposition codes for a return order document type
