The TS7785 Server facilitates data transfer between the host and data storage, and to and from physical tape drives when the TS7785 connects to a physical tape library.

The TS7785 Server performs the following major functions:
  • Host connectivity
  • Virtualization of tape drives and media, when connected to a physical tape library
  • Storage, replication, and organization of data, including organization across tape libraries and physical media when connected to a physical tape library

TS7785 Server (4986-VEL) configuration

The TS7785 is comprised of a server and two I/O drawers.

  • 4U Power 9+
  • 256 GB RAM
  • 4 x 6.4TB NVMe
  • El Diablo (EJ1T Storage BackplaneGen4 with 2 NVMe U.2 drive slots)

  • One system (serial) port with RJ45 connector

  • Two Hardware Management Console (HMC) ports

  • Four USB ports

  • Two 1Gbps copper Ethernet adapter

  • Two quad-port 32 Gbps FC adapter

  • Two 10Gb-LW GRID adapters
  • Two 10Gb-LW Cloud adapters
  • Two quad-port 32Gb FC adapter ( Longwave or Shortwave )
