Server requirements

IBM® Storage Defender Sentinel gives you the flexibility to choose your own server platform. You can deploy the IBM Storage Defender Sentinel anomaly scan software on a virtual machine (VM) or on a physical server that meets the minimum hardware and software requirements.

Initiators for Fibre Channel and iSCSI must be established between physical anomaly scan software server deployments and IBM storage such as IBM Storage FlashSystem 9100 and IBM Storage FlashSystem 5200. Fibre Channel is the preferred initiator option for physical anomaly scan software server deployments.

The IBM Storage Defender Sentinel offering consists of IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management with anomaly scanning software. The minimum version levels of the software IBM Storage Defender Sentinel are as follows:
  • IBM Storage Defender Sentinel anomaly scan software 2.3.1 and later patches
Note: Check Fix Central for the latest IBM Storage Defender Sentinel 2.3.1 interim fixes. For more information, see Download Information.
  • IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management 2.3.1 and later interim fixes
  • IBM Storage Systems that run on:
    • IBM Storage Virtualize 8.7.0.x, 8.7.3.x (Legacy Safeguarded Copy)
    • IBM Storage Virtualize for Snapshot 9.1.x (Latest Safeguarded Copy / Volume Group Snapshots)

IBM Storage Defender Sentinel server requirements

The requirements apply to the anomaly scan software server component of the IBM Storage Defender Sentinel offering only. Generally, you want to successfully install IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management before you deploy the anomaly scan software server. For more information on deployment of IBM Storage Defender Copy Data Management, see Installation and setup.
