Upgrade on Linux nodes

Use these tables to access documentation for IBM Storage Scale upgrade on Linux® nodes.

Note: The list of topics in the following table for upgrade on Linux nodes is not exhaustive. The high-level process of upgrade is included here with corresponding links to respective documentation topics. For more information, see Upgrading.

 1  Go through the IBM Storage Scale product overview to understand the available features that include support for protocols.

 2  Review the planning considerations for IBM Storage Scale including protocols.

 3  Review the hardware requirements, software requirements, and specific prerequisites for protocols.

Table 2. Prepare for upgrade
Upgrade task Documentation
 1  Understand the available upgrade options and supported upgrade paths, and choose one of the two upgrade options.

 2  Review considerations for upgrade that include coexistence considerations and compatibility considerations.

 3  If you are using the installation toolkit for the upgrade, run the upgrade precheck procedure.

Important: Run the upgrade precheck procedure when you are preparing for upgrade. You can address any issues that are flagged during the precheck before the upgrade starts.

 1  Upgrade core GPFS by using one of these procedures.

 2  Upgrade protocols.

 3  Upgrade performance monitoring.

 8  Complete the upgrade.

 Optional  If required, you can also do an offline upgrade with complete cluster shutdown.

 5  Complete the upgrade.

 Optional  Rerun upgrade after an upgrade failure.

 Optional  Upgrade IBM Storage Scale on IBM Storage Archive Enterprise Edition (EE) nodes.
