Data sharing between central and branch offices
This is a use case for data sharing between central and branch offices.
The following diagram illustrates the use case.

Use case requirement
One central office is the only writer of the data. The branch offices are consumers of the data that read the data written by the central office and do not modify the data.
The AFM configuration and the used modes
The central site is configured as the home cluster. All branch offices are configured as RO filesets at the home cluster or the central site. Fileset quotas can be defined for the RO filesets. The home cluster and the AFM caches can be connected to the IBM Spectrum Protect.
Resolution by using AFM
Applications attached to the RO filesets can access and read data. Data is pulled from the home cluster on demand. Data can also be pulled before the actual demand, by using the mmafmctl prefetch command.
Extensions of the use case
Branch offices can be configured to write data and maintain their own local changes without sending the updates to the central site. The LU mode can be used for this purpose.
