Upgrading the performance monitoring tool
Upgrading performance monitoring does not upgrade the existing perfmon configuration. For example, new sensors that are introduced in newer releases are not enabled automatically when you upgrade the performance monitoring tool to the later release. Enable the new sensors manually afterward.
To list the new sensors/releases and the steps to enable these sensors, see mmperfmon
config add
command in mmperfmon command.
The update path does not touch existing perfmon config and new sensors needs to be enabled manually after you upgrade the performance monitoring tool. When you enable the sensor that has an impact on the pmcollector memory consumption as well.
Note: There are two new sensors, GPFSPool and GPFSFileset for the pmsensor service. If an older
version of the IBM
Storage Scale performance monitoring
system is upgraded, these sensors are not automatically enabled. This is because automatically
enabling the sensors might cause the collectors to consume more main memory than what was set aside
for monitoring. Changing the memory footprint of the collector database might cause issues for the
users if the collectors are tightly configured.
