Modifying or removing SMB shares using MMC

You can use the Shared Folders Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in on Microsoft Windows clients for modifying or removing SMB shares on the IBM Storage Scale cluster.

  1. Open the Shared Folders Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in:
    1. Click Start > Run.
    2. Type fsmgmt.msc and click OK.
    The Shared Folders Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in opens.
  2. Connect to the server on which you want to create SMB shares:
    1. Click Action > Connect to another computer.
    2. Type the IP address of the server you want to connect to in the Another computer field and click OK.
  3. In the left pane, click Shares.
    All SMB shares are listed in the right pane.
    Note: If there is a permissions related error when you click Shares, verify that you are a member of the local administrators group of the cluster. For more information, see Managing SMB shares using MMC.
  4. Do one of the following steps depending on whether you want to modify or remove SMB shares:
    • To modify an SMB share:
      1. In the right pane, right-click the SMB share that you want to modify, and then click Properties.
      2. Modify the properties as required and click OK.
    • To remove an SMB share:
      1. In the right pane, right-click the SMB share that you want to remove, and then click Stop Sharing.
