Configuring the host PC
Prepare the host PC to establish a console connection to the switch so that initial configuration can be performed.
- Ensure that the USB-to-serial cable driver is installed on the PC.
- Open device manager and verify that the USB-to-serial cable is assigned a COM port.

Open
putty.exeand configure the COM port connection.Configure PuTTY with the following settings:
Baud rate 115200 Parity None Stop bits 1 Data bits 8 Flow control None - Power on the switch and wait for the login prompt.

Log in with the default credentials.
- User ID
- cumulus
- Password
- <11S serial number>
If the switch uses Mellanox defaults, use:- User ID

Gain sudo rights.
sudo su - -
Copy the VLAN configuration file contents into
/etc/network/interfaces.Edit the file by using
vior any preferred editor. -
Reload interfaces and verify status.
ifreload -a ifquery -a -
Check VLAN setup.
net show interface all -
Configure switch network settings, if required.
net add interface eth0 IP address 192.168.44.20/24 net add interface eth0 IP gateway 192.168.44.1 net pending net commit -
Set the VLAN tag on each server canister.
Required VLAN tag:
101/bin/ipmitool lan set 1 vlan id 101 -
Confirm the VLAN tag.
/bin/ipmitool lan print 1 | grep -i 'VLAN ID'
