Upgrade workflow

During the IBM Storage Scale System node upgrade, high‑level operations are run to upgrade storage software, the operating system, and network drivers without any impact on cluster availability.

The following upgrade flowchart contains the upgrade tasks that are completed on IBM Storage Scale System nodes.

Important:

A timing report is generated for each upgrade and stored in the /var/log/ess/7.0.1.0/ directory on the deployment container. The report records the start time, end time, and duration of high‑level operations during the upgrade.

These details provide visibility into the overall upgrade timeline and the duration of individual operations. Use the report for performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, and identification of operations that take longer.
