Phase 3: Configuring the initial setup

After you establish the physical management connections and then connect an IBM Storage Scale System 5149-F26 Storage Enclosure to IBM Storage Scale System 6000, complete the initial setup.

To complete this procedure, you need the software bundle. For more information, see Get the software bundle (SSR task).

About this task

During the initial setup, the SSR upgrades essential software components and validates both hardware and connectivity on both server canisters, one at a time.

Procedure

  1. Connect to the SSR port of the canister two (bottom canister) of the IBM Storage Scale System 6000 and start the installation task. The goal is to update the software and firmware of the IBM Storage Scale System 6000 I/O canister.

    Remember: After you complete phases 3 and 4 for one of the canisters, complete step 1 of phase 3 and the entire phase 4 for the other canister.
  2. Plug the AC power to the MTM 5149-F26 storage enclosures and the IBM Storage Scale System 6000.
