This topic describes the deployment architecture of running IBM Storage Scale Erasure Code Edition on VMware.

In the IBM Storage Scale Erasure Code Edition on the VMware deployment
architecture, each VMware ESXi server provides a VM to run as the IBM Storage Scale ECE storage node. VMware ESXi server local HDD and
NVMe disk drives are configured to the VM for IBM Storage Scale
ECE. Virtual function from Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) enabled network device is
configured to the ECE storage node for the ECE network connection.
Note: Physical network
used as an ECE storage interface should not be used for other purpose. Any other network access
requirements need to be set up on other network interface.
