About this task

Use this procedure along with the vendor documentation to install IBM Storage Ready Nodes.

Vendor documentation provides steps for many different configurations. Select the sections that are most applicable to your use case.

CAUTION:
Ready Node installation in a rack is a 2-person task.
Note: Ensure to use proper grounding for all assembly steps.

Procedure

  1. Remove Ready Node from its shipping packaging and place on a surface capable of supporting its weight.
  2. Remove slides from the shipping packaging and install in the rack in locations that are denoted in your stacking plan and vendor instructions.
  3. Install the Ready Node on the slides (a 2-person operation) as per vendor instructions.
  4. Optional: Remove the drives from the over pack and install in the Ready Node front drive slots as show in the following diagram. This operation involves removing the front HDD fillers first. This step is valid for the R750 X5D server.

  5. Attach the bezel.
  6. Dispose the shipping packaging and HDD fillers.
  7. Optional: You can keep some containers if return shipping is necessary.
