Starting the server in the foreground

To directly interact with an IBM Storage Protect server, start the server in the foreground. For example, if you want to enter commands, start the server in the foreground.

1. Change to the directory where the server is installed.
   For example, change to the c:\program files\tivoli\tsm\server directory.
2. Enter the following command:

   dsmserv -k instance_name

   where instance_name specifies the server instance.
