Preparing to copy retention sets to IBM Cloud archive storage

To use IBM Cloud® archive storage classes, you must create a bucket on IBM Cloud. The bucket cannot contain other IBM Storage Protect data, such as cloud-container storage pools or database backups.

Before you begin

If you defined AWS Glacier or AWS Deep Glacier the cloud archive storage class, the following procedure is not required.

Procedure

  1. On the IBM Cloud console, click Cloud Object Storage.
  2. To create a bucket in IBM Cloud, click Create Bucket.
  3. On the Create Bucket page, select Customize Your Bucket.
  4. On the Customize Your Bucket page, complete the bucket name, resiliency, location, and storage class fields.
  5. In the Archive Rule section, click Add Rule.
  6. Complete the following options:
    1. Select the archive type: Accelerated Archive or Archive.
    2. Enter the number of days after which data is copied to cloud archive storage.
    3. To archive data immediately, enter 0, which specifies the instant archive option.
  7. Save the rule to complete the bucket creation.
