Maintaining servers
Server maintenance tasks tune server operations. You can
help ensure that server resources are available to clients by scheduling
maintenance tasks to start during times of low client activity.
Checking whether servers are protected
To ensure that an IBM Storage Protect server is protected, verify that the server database is backed up regularly and that there is enough free space available for the database and the active and archive logs.
Viewing server maintenance tasks
The list of server maintenance tasks includes administrative command schedules, maintenance scripts, and related commands that were run manually or by using an external scheduler.
Manually backing up a server database
Back up the IBM Storage Protect server database regularly to protect the server. If the database misses a scheduled backup, you can manually back it up and optionally change the device class to which scheduled backups are written.
