Re-creating the server instance

You can re-create the server instance, which includes the service instance directory, server database, server database directories, recovery log directories, and the dsmserv.opt file, by creating a new server instance with the settings that you used for the server that you are restoring.

Procedure

Use the instructions in the following table to re-create the server instance for your storage environment:

Single-site disk
  1. Set up the system by completing the following steps:
    1. Configure the storage hardware.
    2. Install the server operating system.
    3. Configure multipath I/O.
    4. Create the user ID for the server.
    5. Prepare file systems for the server.
  2. Install the server and Operations Center.
  3. Configure the server instance.
  4. Install the backup-archive client.
  5. Set options for the server.
Multisite disk
  1. Set up the system by completing the following steps:
    1. Configure the storage hardware.
    2. Install the server operating system.
