Installing the server components

To install the IBM Storage Protect server components, you can use either the installation wizard or the command line in console mode.

About this task

Using the IBM Storage Protect installation software, you can install the following components:
  • server
    Note:
    • The database (IBM Db2), the Global Security Kit (GSKit) and IBM® Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE) are automatically installed when you select the server component.

    • When the console prompts you to complete prerequisite steps during the installation or upgrade of IBM Storage Protect, you can ignore the prerequisite steps and enter Y when prompted with Do you want to proceed with the upgrade? (Yes/No): to continue with the upgrade.

  • Open Snap Store Manager (OSSM)
    Restriction: The system where you plan to install OSSM must be running on a Linux® x86_64 or AIX operating system.
