Configuring an object agent service

Before you start data operations from object clients, you must configure the IBM Storage Protect object agent service to provide an Amazon S3 API endpoint. The endpoint can send and receive data from the server.

Procedure

Complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to the Operations Center by using an administrative user ID.
  2. Set up an object agent. One object agent is allowed per IBM Storage Protect server. Take the following actions:
    1. On the Operations Center menu bar, click Servers.
    2. Select a server row and click Details.
    3. Click the Object Agent tab, and complete the steps to create an object agent and start an object agent service. To authenticate to the object agent, use the certificate that is generated.
Tip: Alternatively, use the DEFINE SERVER command to create an object agent. Specify OBJECTAGENT=YES. After the command completes processing, follow the instructions in the command output. When these actions are completed, the object agent service starts automatically on the system that is hosting the IBM Storage Protect server.

Optionally, you can configure the object agent service to use HTTP to secure communications instead of HTTPS. For instructions, see Configuring an object agent service to use HTTP
